I do so enjoy my bird friends and at this time of the year, the hummingbirds are so prevalent. This one seems to be thanking me for the feeder she enjoys (or at least I can dream so).
My big project of late has been makin a stepping stone walkway to the Hobbit Hole egress area we made as our Quarantine project two years ago (has it been that long?!). I dug up turf, added leftover flat cement blocks on which I set one of our spray-painted garden benches and am working on the side table made up of a base found on garbage day at one house and a large round glass top found a year or two later at another house. I love repurposing.
Lately I've been working on filling it all in with perennials and wood chip mulch that came from my husband's boss's landscaping project. I'll show more of it as it progresses, but I'm rather pleased with it.
For sewing, I finally finished a nursing dress for my daughter that I've had cut out for several months. 😏 Well, better late than never and Granddaughter Evie is still nursing, so...
I've also been knitting up some more dishcloths cuz that's about all I can knit. I'm a crochet lady.
But my favorite finish is the cloth book I made for Evie's first birthday:
I had bought the panel at a quilt shop in Bird-in-Hand, PA when we were there in late March. I just loved it and now wish I'd bought more because they're hard to find.
It's "You Are Loved" by Dawn Rosengren of Little Love Farm for Henry Glass Fabrics.
I found some more panels on eBay that I considered buying in order to use as baby shower gifts, but decided not to buy more after all and let Evie's gift be somewhat unique.
This book is so sweet and lovely and it's going to be fun to read it with her after we celebrate her birthday tomorrow.

So, my August One Monthly Goal is to finish the top of this quiltalong by From My Carolina Home.
I have the instructions and some cutting done, so we'll see what happens.
Such a beautiful header photo. I love the book you are making for your granddaughter, what fun you will have reading it to her while she is sitting on your knee, turning the pages together and looking at the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love your stepping stones.. looks like a beautiful way to wander through the garden... that cloth book is just gorgeous! xx
