I just finished a light read mystery that I enjoyed called Murder by the Book by Lauren Elliott.
The story is set in a small town (though, of course, that term is relative - my home town boasts a population of around 2,000.) The protagonist has just inherited her aunt's mansion and an attic full of rare and antique books so she opens a bookstore in the quaint downtown area.
Mysterious break-ins and murders draw her into teaming up with the conveniently single police chief and his friendly sister who has a tea shop next door to the bookstore.
Figuring out the motive for the various breakins and murders is strung out well enough to provide some suspense and the writing is pretty good though some descriptions and expressions were used too often.
It was a good, light story without gore or sappy or sexy scenes. I will most likely read her second book when it comes out in April.
Oh, and the bookstore on the cover looks so cozy and inviting.
